Ethereum Rival Cardano Surges This Week As Crypto Giant Grayscale Files ADA ETF Application

Cardano has managed to outshine a large percentage of the digital asset market this week amid news that the crypto asset management firm Grayscale wants to create a spot ADA exchange-traded fund (ETF) for the smart contract platform. The ETF and securities exchange NYSE Arca, a subsidiary of the New York Stock Exchange, submitted a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday to propose listing the Grayscale Cardano Trust, which, if approved, would be the first-ever ADA ETF. ADA is trading at $0.804 at time of writing. The 9th-ranked crypto asset by market cap is up nearly 2% in the past day and more than 12% in the past week. The milestone from BlackRock comes 10 months after the company launched its spot Bitcoin ETF in January. Then, it was reported that BlackRock had traded $7.5 million shares within the first 10 minutes of launching. Now, BlackRock holds more than 417,000 Bitcoin, valued at $30.4 billion, according to iShares data. Ethereum drops below $3k as liquidations hit $320 million

Ethereum price has dropped below $3,000, hitting lows of $2,942 on Coinbase. The decline in the price of Ethereum comes as spot ETH ETFs saw a tepid debut in Hong Kong. Liquidations hit $320 across the crypto market, with over $96 million in ETH (over $78 million of it in liquidated longs). Ethereum has declined to below $3,000 again as the broader crypto market reels from downside pressure. As Bitcoin retested prices near $60,000 on Tuesday, ETH price moved lower and broke under the psychological $3k level. Bitcoin ETF race gets hotter as ARK Invest adds surveillance agreement to application

ARK Invest and 21Shares' third application for a spot Bitcoin ETF now includes a surveillance sharing agreement. ARK Investment Management has amended its spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), making it similar to BlackRock's recent filing.  The amendments include a surveillance sharing agreement with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) futures markets and crypto exchange, most "likely Coinbase", said Bloomberg's ETF analyst Eric Balchunas on Twitter. In the race for the first Bitcoin ETF in the United States, ARK's filing update puts it ahead of its competitors.
